Merilampi represented Kesko Corporation before the European Commission and the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority in merger control proceedings related to Kesko Corporation’s acquisition of the entire share capital in Onninen Oy from Onvest Oy.

The investigation of the acquisition as regards Finland was transferred from the European Commission to the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA). The FCCA approved the acquisition unconditionally on 20 April 2016.

The European Commission investigated the acquisition as regards the other countries, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. In its decision issued on 25 May 2016, the European Commission approved the acquisition without any conditions. All competition authority approvals required for the completion of the acquisition have therefore been obtained. The completion of the acquisition is still subject to the fulfilment of the other terms and conditions of the transaction.
