The board of the Finnish Bar Association has in its meeting on 18 June 2021 elected our partner and chairman of the board Jussi Ikonen as the new Head of Finnish Delegation in the CCBE (The Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe).

The CCBE is an association gathering together bar associations of 32 countries in Europe and an additional eleven associate and observer members. The CCBE represents around a million European lawyers before EU institutions mainly, but also before other international organizations. The CCBE statutes define its objects as to actively defense the rule of law and protect the human rights and freedoms and the democratic values inextricably associated with such rights.

“I am taken and proud of this appointment. The CCBE is a crucial player in defending the rule of law as well as keeping up other fundamental values in Europe. It is great to be involved in these discussions with esteemed colleagues from all over the Europe and in part align the future of the entire legal profession”, Ikonen comments on his election.
