We represented local dairies in the Valio abuse of a dominant market position case
Merilampi represented five local dairies (Ilmajoen Osuusmeijeri, Juustoportti ILO, Osuuskunta Maitokolmio, Osuuskunta Maitomaa and Osuuskunta Satamaito) before the Market Court regarding Valio Ltd’s predatory pricing in the fresh milk market in Finland.
By a decision issued on 26 June 2014, the Finnish Market Court imposed a EUR 70 million fine on Valio for abuse of dominant market position, including predatory pricing. The fine remains the highest imposed on a single company in Finland.
Valio has appealed of the decision and the case is now pending before the Supreme Administrative Court. Merilampi also represents the dairies in the follow-on damages litigation against Valio before the Helsinki District Court.
